Cairns Festival
Ten days of outdoor music, art and events across tropical Cairns during the dry season.
Cairns Festival runs for ten days in late August and early September, with outdoor concerts and art events across the CBD and Esplanade during the best dry season weather.
Cairns Festival has run annually since 1962 and is Queensland's largest regional arts festival. It runs for ten days in late August and early September, which is peak dry season in the tropical north, with clear days, low humidity and comfortable evening temperatures. The festival includes free outdoor concerts on the Cairns Esplanade, public art installations, food stalls and community events.
The standout event every year is the Grand Parade, which runs down the Esplanade on the first Saturday night of the festival and includes community groups, live music and fireworks over Trinity Inlet. Other standout events include the outdoor cinema nights and the public art installations at the Esplanade Lagoon.
