Tucked into the Thredbo Valley between Jindabyne and Thredbo, Wildbrumby Distillery has been crafting schnapps, gin and vodka from organic alpine-grown fruit and native mountain botanicals since 2003. A working distillery, sculpture garden, art gallery and cafe rolled into one, it offers an unexpectedly rich stop in the high country, and one of the few places in Australia producing authentic European-style fruit schnapps.

The distillery was founded by Brad Spalding and his wife Monika, who imported a traditional German still to produce spirits the old-fashioned way, with pure, organically sourced ingredients and an emphasis on flavour over volume. The range has grown to include a wide variety of liqueur schnapps, a Snowy Mountains gin and a clean vodka, all distilled on site using the pristine alpine water that flows through the valley.

Visitors can browse the distillery door seven days a week, with the Stillhouse Cafe open Thursday to Monday. Tastings are available, and on Friday and Saturday afternoons a Schnappy Hour offers a flight of three schnapps at a discount. Hosted tasting experiences pairing cocktails with a distiller's plate can be booked in advance.

The sculpture garden showcases Brad's artwork inspired by the surrounding alpine landscape, giving the visit a genuine art-meets-craft dimension. Entry to the grounds is free; spirits and food are purchased separately. The distillery is located on Wollondibby Road, Crackenback, a short drive off the Alpine Way.
