A 268 metre permanent single-drop waterfall in Girringun National Park, fed by Stony Creek and plunging into a rainforest pool at the base. Part of the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area.
Wallaman Falls is the tallest permanent single-drop waterfall in Australia. Stony Creek pours over the edge of the Seaview Range and falls 268 metres in one continuous drop into a deep rainforest plunge pool. The total descent including the cascading creek above and below the main fall is more than 305 metres.
The falls sit inside Girringun National Park, on Warrgamay country, and form part of the Wet Tropics of Queensland World Heritage Area. The park covers more than 1,200 square kilometres of rainforest, escarpment and stream, west of Ingham in north Queensland.
The lookout at the top of the falls is reached by a sealed road from Ingham. A steep walking track leads down to the base of the falls (about two hours return) through rainforest and across creek crossings. The wet season from January to April is when the falls are at their most powerful.
