Yura Tours - Quandamooka Cultural Experiences
Country, culture, living stories
schedule 1 min read / Updated Jun 2026
Yura Tours is a First Nations owned and operated business based in Dunwich on North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah), offering immersive cultural experiences led by proud Quandamooka guides who share their deep connection to the island's land, sea, and sky. The tours weave creation stories, plant knowledge, and living traditions into unforgettable walks and drives through Quandamooka Country. Tours run seven days a week, all year round, and cater to individuals, families, schools, and corporate groups.
The most accessible tour is the 90-minute Sand Beneath My Feet walking experience, which visits significant cultural sites including Bummiera (Brown Lake), Moongalaba (the old mission site), and Capemba (Myora Springs), with a Welcome to Country, creation stories, and bushtucker plant identification woven throughout. The three-hour Ultimate Minjerribah Cultural Experience adds a 4WD drive to the eastern beaches and the iconic headland at Mulumba (Point Lookout). Full-day trips departing from Brisbane are also available for visitors wanting a seamless experience from the mainland.
All tours include a genuine cultural exchange rather than a scripted performance, honouring the Nughi, Nunukul, and Goenpul clans of the Quandamooka people whose ancestors have called Minjerribah home for at least 21,000 years. Wildlife, including turtles, dolphins, kangaroos, wallabies, and seasonal whales, often features in the experience, as Country itself is woven into every story. Bookings are essential and can be made online or by phone.
