Nestled at 1,370 metres in Kosciuszko National Park along the Thredbo River, Thredbo Alpine Village is the Snowy Mountains' most celebrated resort town. Whether blanketed in snow or bathed in summer sun, the village delivers world-class skiing in winter and hiking, mountain biking and wildflower walks in the warmer months, all within a compact, walkable alpine setting.
In winter Thredbo offers over 280 hectares of skiable terrain, making it one of Australia's premier ski destinations. The village hums with skiers and snowboarders, and the atmosphere is warm and sociable, with a good mix of restaurants, bars and boutique shops along the main streets.
Summer brings an entirely different character. The Kosciuszko Express Chairlift carries hikers to the start of the Mount Kosciuszko summit walk, while the mountain bike park offers more than 40 kilometres of trails for all abilities. Horse riding, abseiling, guided walks and fishing round out the activity list. After the snow melts, the surrounding alpine meadows burst with native wildflowers in December and January.
The village has a good selection of accommodation, dining and cafes, and sits 31 kilometres from Jindabyne via the Alpine Way. Park entry fees apply for vehicles entering Kosciuszko National Park.
