Oxley Scenic Lookout

The views from the lookout are best in the golden hour before sunset, when the light catches the valley floor and the ranges in the distance. On a clear day the panorama stretches for many kilometres in both directions, taking in Tamworth's rooftops, the meandering Peel River, and the forested ridgelines of the New England Tablelands. The site is a favourite with local photographers and visitors wanting a sense of the wider landscape.

The lookout is the trailhead for the Kamilaroi Walking Track, a multi-kilometre route through native bushland that connects Victoria Park, the Marsupial Park, the Botanic Gardens, and several other reserves on the eastern fringe of the city. The track offers varying difficulty levels and is suitable for casual walkers as well as those wanting a longer outing.

Picnic tables, barbecue facilities, public toilets, and coach parking are all available at the site. The gates are locked at night, so daytime visits are recommended.
