Logan Wines
Family winery, Central Ranges flavours
schedule 1 min read / Updated Jun 2026
Logan Wines is a family operation perched 15 kilometres from Mudgee along the Castlereagh Highway, where winemaker Peter Logan continues his father Malcolm's legacy of championing the NSW Central Ranges. The estate draws fruit from both Mudgee and the high-altitude Orange wine region, producing a diverse range that consistently overdelivers at every price point.
The Logan cellar door is airy and unpretentious, with broad windows framing the surrounding vineyard and bush. Seated tasting flights run daily, taking visitors through the full range from approachable everyday labels up to the flagship Ridge of Tears and Weemala single-vineyard wines. Staff are knowledgeable and enthusiastic without being precious.
The winery's dual-region approach, Mudgee for textured reds and Orange for aromatic whites, gives the tasting experience an unusual breadth. Visitors rarely leave without a mixed dozen, and the cellar door stocks older vintages alongside current releases.
The drive out along the Castlereagh Highway is scenic in its own right, passing rolling farmland and eucalypt woodland. Logan makes a natural pairing with the nearby Robert Stein estate for a focused day exploring the northern Mudgee wine zone.
