Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park
Native animals up close
schedule 1 min read / Updated Jun 2026
Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park moved to an impressive new home at South Coast Road in late 2024, bringing visitors face to face with wombats, koalas, echidnas, and dozens of other Australian native species. The park sits near Seal Bay, making it a natural pairing with the conservation park for a full day on Kangaroo Island's south coast.
The wildlife park is a hands-on experience designed for all ages, with opportunities to hand-feed wallabies and kangaroos, hold a koala, and get close to reptiles, birds, and small marsupials that rarely appear in the wild. Knowledgeable keepers roam the grounds throughout the day, sharing stories about each animal's history, diet, and behaviour.
The new facility at Seal Bay is significantly larger than the previous site, allowing more naturalistic enclosures and improved animal welfare standards. A range of interactive keeper experiences can be pre-booked, including behind-the-scenes tours with specific species. The aquarium section introduces visitors to the marine life found in the waters surrounding Kangaroo Island.
Tickets are purchased on arrival at the park entrance, and pre-booking is not required for general daily entry. The park is open seven days a week, closing only on Christmas Day and during extreme fire weather events.
