Beechworth Honey Shop
Taste over forty honeys
schedule 1 min read / Updated Jun 2026
Australia's best-known artisan honey producer has operated from Beechworth since 1888, and its Ford Street flagship store remains the most hands-on place in the country to explore single-varietal honeys. Visitors can taste freely from more than 40 varieties at a dedicated tasting counter, observe a working beehive behind glass, and browse a range of honey products, all with no admission charge.
The tasting counter is the centrepiece of the visit, offering varieties ranging from delicate Salvation Jane through to robust Ironbark and rare Leatherwood, each drawn from specific flowering regions across Australia. Staff are well-versed in explaining the flavour profiles and the floral sources behind each variety.
The shop also hosts a rotating series of creative exhibitions that draw on the company's deep connection with beekeeping science and environmental storytelling. These displays change seasonally and give repeat visitors fresh reasons to come back.
For groups wanting a more structured experience, the company offers separately bookable immersive sessions including Bee School and guided honey masterclasses. The standard shop visit including tasting remains completely free.
